Have a Lot of Fun...Corvette

On this day in 1953, workers at a Chevrolet plant in Flint, Michigan, assemble the first Corvette. Their first car rolls of production line two years later. Their first ad featured the tag line "Have a lot of fun" and, 59 years later, people still enjoy this great classic

Concerned Mom and Wasaga Beach Resident.....Does This Belong to You???

Does this belong to you? We walked to the beach today as we usually do when it's nice. Lib and I are hand in hand walking in the water. I saw something red beside a patch of rocks. I reached down only to discover it was half of the bottom of a glass beer mug! So where is the rest of the mug? Shattered in between rocks right where we were walking! I got Lib out of there and picked up as much broken glass as I could see. We were inches away from a trip to the hospital with a little girl. It's nice that you can come to our town for the weekend, but respect the place that we live and love. Respect where our children play...and lastly, please think twice before being a complete idiot and doing something like this!

Wasaga Beach Lions Green Team Plant Trees

The Wasaga Beach Lions Club recently took part in a Lions Green Team initiative to help the environment by providing $1,000 for the 2nd Wasaga Beach Scouts to plant 850 trees in the Lamont Creek area.  This project has given our club an opportunity to improve the environment while working in conjunction with the youth.   Paul Yarmola, president of the Wasaga Beach  Lions Club, says “This Lions Green Team project improved the environment and our community at the same time. It exemplifies our ongoing commitment to provide a healthier
and safer place to live, work and play. An important part of Lions Club Internationals extension of service this year will be caring for our environment. Our International President Tams goal this year is to plant a million trees around the world.  It’s no secret that trees help the environment, but you may be surprised by all the benefits that planting a tree can provide. Trees are like the lungs of the planet.
They breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen.
They also reduce erosion to save soil, help preserve local water sources, and provide habitat for wildlife living under more and more stress.
Simply put, planting trees in your neighborhood really is one of the best things you can do for the local environment. As of this month, Lions around the world have planted over 9,300,000 trees!
If you would like to help us raise funds for next years project and you have a business that helps make less impact on our environment or improve our health including healty recreation activities, please join us in this years Think Smart Show on Oct 20th &21st.  Go to our website for more information.  wasagabeachlions.com
Lions thank everyone who contributed to and supported this important effort by being a vendor or attending last years Think Smart Show.  You are truly helping Lions make a difference.”
The Wasaga Beach Lions Club meets on 2nd and 4th Monday at 7 pm in the Lions Den at the RecPlex.
Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. After a long and hard fought battle with cancer, we lost Pat Damaren on Monday, June 11, 2012

Beach BOOSTER strives to bring positive and good news to our readers... so with the sad news of us losing Pat Damaren this week... I think back to all the positive and good things she brought to Wasaga Beach.
Wasaga Beach enjoyed Pat’s hospitality for years at the Dyconia Resort Hotel, as she worked hard to provide a wonderful atmosphere in both the Dining Room and the Lounge at the famous hotel. Pat’s welcoming smile made every visit to “The Dyc” feel like you were special. Dropping in to catch up on the latest news from John, as he told his stories of the past and the possible future of Wasaga Beach, was always made more rewarding as Pat made sure the surroundings looked great and that you were greeted with her friendly hello and for some... a hug.
Pat’s attention to detail showed as all appreciated the renovations to the Dining Room as new lighting, seating, tables and hardwood floors were installed to make it even more appealing. The view of the river was enjoyed by all of the regulars and new comers who enjoyed The Dyconia for its famous Prime Rib and many other great items not available elsewhere in The Beach. John and Pat working together made all guests happy with the great meals served in this famous Wasaga Beach establishment.
Renovations in The Lounge at the Dyconia also showed Pat’s attention to detail, as it was a welcoming place for all to enjoy a drink and of course the famous lunch specialties. Pat’s friendly smile was always seen, often looking on as John was on one of his infamous rants about The Beach!
After John and Pat sold the Dyconia Resort, Pat’s talents were taken to the Wasaga Sands where she continued to wow people with her great, special buffets and the regular menu items at the Golf Club. Pat’s catering experience was always sought after as she mastered all types of events, including beach front weddings.
After a long and hard fought battle with cancer, we lost Pat on Monday, June 11, 2012. Pat will be remembered for many things, including her good nature, her generosity, her wonderful smile and laugh... but in my mind, I will always fondly remember her at The Dyconia... making the historic Wasaga Beach hotel a happy place to be!
Patti is survived by her husband John, brothers Mario and Joe, and sister Lois.
