Wasaga Beach Mourns Roy Wilson

Wasaga Beach Mourns Roy Wilson

Wasaga Beach mourns a dear friend, a lovable and highly-respected resident.
Roy Wilson was named first town crier in Wasaga Beach and has remained at the post since 1998 when he was the winner in the competition for the position.
Wasaga Beach will never forget the sound of his bell and his voice shouting “Oh Yeas!” all these years at numerous community events.
The town also has great respect for Roy’s wife, Catherine, who was always walking along with him.
Wilson is known for contributing to make Wasaga Beach a better place to live and encouraging people to support local events and help the community’s development, and as a result, Roy and his wife were named to the Order of Wasaga Beach in 2008. He will always be remembered as the cheerful man who loved his town.
Visitations will be held at Carruthers and Davidson Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on River Road West. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Hall A in the RecPlex.
Roy Wilson was 86. His wife said that Wilson has died peacefully at their home. Previous to his death, Wilson suffered a heart attack.
Truly, sad news for Wasaga Beach.
The residents will never forget his voice and will certainly keep his memory alive.
