Wasaga Beach Lions Club Helps the Storm-ravaged Areas of the Philippines

Wasaga Beach Lions Beverly and Leo Fowler present $1,000 to PDG Dave Hewitt Lions Club International Foundation District A-12 Chair.

Lions Club International Foundation immediately sent US$30,000 to provide relief early Friday morning. This was prior to initial reports of the total devastation unfolding hour by hour.
By Friday afternoon, Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) provided a Major Catastrophe Grant of US$100,000. But that’s not all. As the storm struck, it happened that the 52nd Orient and South East Asia Lions (OSEAL) Forum  was underway in Singapore. The Lions from OSEAL within hours donated an additional US$370,000 designated funds for Philippines relief efforts, bringing the total funds to US$500,000.
Officials now estimate that 9.5 million are affected, half million are homeless, and the death toll is rapidly rising. Entire towns along the coast have been decimated.
There are more than 12,600 Lions in the Philippines in 380 clubs, with four clubs in Cebu, and one club in the disaster epicenter of Tacloban. Lions on the ground were already busy serving people affected by last month’s major earthquake in nearby Bohol.

Our Club also purchased 2 classroom kits through LCIF and UNICEF’s “School in a Box” program.   Each kit contains supplies and materials for a teacher and up to 40 students. The purpose of the kit is to ensure the continuation of children's education by the first 72 hours of an emergency.  These proceeds come from the proceeds of our Home and Garden Show.
Although we are a local Service Club, where our primary service is to our community, we are also part of an International Service Club.
Besides the Disaster Relief, LCIF provides other grants to Lions Clubs to help with local projects.  Canada received $909,715 in Grants in 2012-2013.
WE SERVE.  If you would like to have Fun and help others in your community and around the world, give us a call  (705) 429-3331 or go to wasagabeachlions.com

Melina Top 10 Podcast in Spanglish

Milena Top 10 is a radio show that runs every Sunday on BeachBOOSTERradio.com It is an entertainment program produced by DJLesterMix and Milena Valdés, a young girl, who has just made her debut at the world of radio. Milena Top 10 is the music countdown of the week, the 10 most popular Latin songs. It's based on different publications and requests made by the audience to Latin radio stations, across north American. The program is segmented into 5 parts which are sponsored by different companies. The voice of Milena gives a fresh and youthful touch to the program where Spanish and English is spoken simultaneously, a little bit informal but a fact in the reality of our city, this has the aim of being able to reach listeners which often does not feel identified by any local radio station because they are people who speaks Spanish and English at the same time and since this is becoming a growing trend in radio and TV (Sirius-XM Satellite Radio, Mega 94.9 Miami, El Zol 95.7 Miami, Latino 96.3 Los Angeles, La Mega 97.9 New York, Mun2TV, Tr3s MTV3, just to name a few) we will attempt to reach out all the people who love Latin music and enjoy it day by day. Our proposal is quite simple: entertain and give the chance to our listeners to enjoy today's popular music. Thanks for listening!!!!!! Milena Top 10 is a presentation of DJLesterMix #Donde Nacen Los Hits #We Play The Music First

Nobody Wants To Get Blasted

The day after Halloween.
The first day of the month.
Less than 60 days (and counting) until 2014!
Wow.
Big welcome to this week's newest subscribers. That's right. I'm talking about you Nathan, Cora, Angela, Darren, Kate, Malinda + more! Thanks so much for joining us. Buckle up!
So, are you wondering about today's subject line? "Nobody Wants To Get Blasted" is the title of a song shared with the world yesterday.
Kinda fun, right? And what a great voice Julie has! Oh, and it's true, nobody wants to get blasted - marketing is about conversations, not campaigns.

    Nobody wants to get blasted
A long long time ago
In the days of old
Direct mail campaigns
Were a marketer’s gold
Commercial email marketing evolved
We’ll get ‘em fast
With batch and blast
Problem will be solved!
But No –
Ain’t nobody wants to get blasted
We want conversations
Email content that engages
Cause No –
Ain’t nobody wants to get blasted
All that you’re missin’
Can be corrected if you just listen

As Marketing Specialist at Outward Media Inc., Julie Neumark heads up the strategy, content and creation for the company’s social media outlets. Neumark is also a published songwriter with song placements in film and television and an album released (Dimestore Halo) in both Europe and the USA.
