Wasaga Dome was Blue for World Diabetes Day

It was a cold blustery wind coming off Georgian Bay last night as Joe Bickerstaff of beachbooster.com and Lion Bill Frieday along with Chris Sarabura of Reflective Solutions managed to turn the Wasaga Dome Blue in Wasaga Beach. All bundled was Kelly Hannigan, “The Music Guy” lending us his expertise.  With the help of Wasaga Beach Lions Club and others the Wasaga Dome was lit up all evening and many, many people dropped by to photograph the event. Members of the Lions club and friends also stopped for hot coffee supplied by Tim Hortons and pizza compliments of Boston Pizza.

The lighting of the Wasaga Dome, like many monuments and buildings in over 60 countries was for World Diabetes Day to promote awareness, education and prevention of diabetes.

The media were especially generous in their support of the local effort with 97.7 the Beach, Wasaga Sun and The Enterprise Bulletin all covering the event.

The photos in this article are courtesy of Susy and Enrique Miranda who braved the cold to capture their photographs.

Others who have taken photos are asked to send their shots to friedayb@gmail.com in order to put together an album for Canadian Diabetes Association and Wasaga Beach Lions Club.

A big thanks to owner Nick Vidinovsky for the use of the Wasaga Dome and to Elvis Pace who looked after us at the Dome.
