The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) has launched a global campaign to light iconic monuments and sites in blue to mark World Diabetes Day,  November 14th.

In Canada, such places being lighted in Blue are CN Tower, Niagara Falls and Rogers Centre.  In Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Canada IDF has partnered with the Wasaga Dome, on Beach One of the Longest Freshwater Beach in the World to help Bring Diabetes to Light.

World Diabetes Day marks a call to action to raise awareness around the world about diabetes, to urge governments to implement national policies for the care and treatment of diabetes and to encourage individuals to get involved.

Wasaga Dome will be Blue lighted from Sundown on Sunday, November 14th until just before midnight.

The event was made possible through the generosity of Wasaga Dome owner Nick Vidinovski. Volunteering their help are Chris Sarabura of Reflective Solutions who will provide the lighting expertise, Joe Bickerstaff of Beach Booster.com and Bill Frieday will be looking after the total production of the event.

While no official lighting ceremony will take place it is hope that people from Wasaga Beach and Southern Georgian Bay will witness the beautiful Dome In Blue and take photos from around the bay.

Wasaga Dome  is on the list of monuments and buildings around the world of be lit up in Blue.
